Record each member separately; similar strength or a trade name is not a match.

Filler/flux/gas combination matched to applicable Table 5.7 and 5.6 requirements?

Joint type and full detail fit a permitted Clause 5 detail for this member, process, position and thickness?

Include CJP/PJP/fillet, backing, root opening, root face, angle, access and backgouging. Tubular requires Clause 10 review.

Preheat/interpass category and minimum satisfy Table 5.11 and applicable project/material restrictions?

Position and every applicable process-table limit (Tables 5.1–5.4) are satisfied?

All Table 5.5 variables are recorded and planned operating ranges stay within its tolerances?

Vertical progression and pass geometry satisfy 5.8, including uphill rule and bead cross-section?

PWHT absent, or every Clause 5.9 condition including Engineer approval is met?

CVN / supplemental toughness requirements have been checked and supported for this route?

If tubular: exact connection, loading category and Clause 10 details have been reviewed?

Do not treat an HSS member alone as proof that Clause 10 applies or does not apply.

Route logic

If all applicable Clause 5 checks pass, Clause 6 WPS procedure tests are exempt. Otherwise inspect valid PQRs and their scope before concluding tests are needed.

When the contract requires CVN testing, assess supplemental Table 6.8 variables in addition to Table 6.6.
